etyres, which has the distinction of being the UKs first online mobile tyre fitting company, welcomed its first two Franchise Owners, husband-and-wife team Pam and Stuart Cass, onboard in 1996 and they are still trading successfully today.

“I believed in the mobile tyre fitting concept 18 years ago,” Stuart explained, “and I still do today. It has changed a lot, but our business has evolved and moved with the times. We have expanded our area and built up a solid business with a large and loyal customer base.”

When Pam and Stuart joined the company it was trading under the name of Fleet Mobile Tyres and focused on supplying and fitting tyres for the fleet and lease markets.

Stuart said: “Back then the internet was still in its infancy, but our Head Office recognised the potential it had to offer and acted decisively to invest in the new technology and infrastructure that put us at the forefront of this new marketplace.

“The arrival of our etyres website made it much easier for us to start selling direct to regular vehicle owners who could enjoy the benefit of having their new tyres fitted at their home or work. I must admit that I was very anti going down the internet road at first,” Stuart admits, “but it has transformed our business.”

Today etyres Portsmouth continues to trade successfully, with the busy branch spreading along the south coast to cover the neighbouring town of Southampton.

“Historically our local sales outnumbered the work coming in from etyres Head Office,” Stuart explained, “but as more people go online to find the best deals we have seen that trend reverse and the rising web sales have increased our business 100 per cent.

“Alongside this growth, Head Office has continued to invest heavily in keeping the website up-to-date and introducing new systems to make it easier and faster for customers to order, while also simplifying the work load for Franchise Owners.

“This allows us to focus on marketing our business in our local area to maximise brand awareness and sales. We have also enjoyed the benefit of having all the expertise we need to handle new opportunities, such as IT and digital marketing, on tap at Head Office.”

As a full member of the British Franchise Association (bfa), etyres has built a strong reputation as an ethical and sustainable franchise business. In 2011 it won the prestigious bfa/HSBC Franchisor of the Year bronze award and was praised for establishing a business ‘that gives franchisees an outstanding success rate’.

“We have worked hard to build our business,” Stuart continued “and we have continued to renew our franchise agreement with etyres because our business is thriving and we value the on-going support and from Head Office and its commitment to investing in developing the brand.”
