After 20 years helping his clients change their appearance with a new hairstyle, Scott Blyth decided he needed a dramatic change himself – only he wanted a completely new career.
So the Livingston hairdresser started searching franchise websites for a new venture. It was not long before he realised etyres, the leading online mobile tyre fitting franchise, was a cut above the many opportunities available.
“I could see almost immediately that it had great potential as a local business and that it was a business I would enjoy being part of,” Scott, 38, explained. “After 20 years, my heart just wasn’t in hairdressing any more, and I am not someone who wants to spend my days doing a job I’m not excited about or keen to push to a new level.
“To go from standing up all day in one place to driving around to different locations and being outside in all weathers really appealed to me. I love football and although I don’t play as much now I coach one of my sons teams and I love being out in all weathers, wind, rain and snow, so etyres was perfect for me.”
Scott is also looking forward to running his own business again, after having previously having had his own hairdressers. “It’s not just about being my own boss,” he explained, “I am excited about the prospect of building the business from scratch. I want to be able to get a second van on the road and employ a fitter as soon as possible, so that I can really grow the business.”
Scott, who is due to launch etyres Edinburgh in early July, has the full backing and support of his mum Ann and his three children Chloe, 15, Jamie 12 and nine-year-old Charlie.
“I can honestly say the build up to launching the branch has been great. I have had so much help and support from the etyres Head Office team and I cannot wait to get on the road.”
